Strider is the first male at First Harmony Farms. He was chosen for his high drive, beautiful structure, and herding lines. We had doubts about buying a puppy from such a large breeder, but after seeing multiple amazing dogs out of Peck we decided to go for it. Overall, we couldn’t imagine life without this boy. The first video of his litter showed him tugging the entire play time and ignoring everything else. Even as a baby he showed how trainable he was-clicker, sit, down, beg, wave, and shake by 8 weeks old. Even though we did not want a red merle (we had requested black or red), he fit what we were looking for perfectly so we decided to give him a try. He had many more tricks and was potty trained by 10 weeks. Strider is a breeze to train. He loves to please and always works hard. He was a very serious and wise puppy, only occasionally showing his puppy side when he would play with his tail, a game he still plays every morning. He was running our house by 12 weeks old, controlling people and dogs with ease. This boy is always herding and working his pack. He is a perfect house dog with a great off switch and plays very well with the pack outside. He rarely if ever has accidents in the house, which is rare for an intact male. He is quite a powerhouse and can drag anyone around when playing tug, his favorite game. Strider is a Casanova extraordinaire and loves giving hugs and kisses to everyone he meets. He is amazing with the kids and strangers. He is one of the only dogs that love playing with kids all the time. He will follow the kids around, hoping they will get wild and crazy so he can join in the fighting or wrestling. He is an amazing goalie at soccer and will spend hours sledding, biking, or roller blading with my son. He is my son Tyler’s favorite dog and they have been best friends since they were toddlers together. Strider is a naturally clean dog and rarely requires any grooming. He gets absolutely filthy, but all the dirt falls off once he dries. Strider is a superstar at everything we have tried-herding, flyball, agility, dock dog, frisbee, obedience, rally, and therapy dog. Strider is the sire of Lily and Epic.

Strider is one of our staples on our flyball team, consistently running sub 4 in any position and can be handled by anyone who can handle him hitting the tug like a force of nature. The only hard part about him is that he is dangerous for anyone with a bad back. He also hates being left behind when we take in another team and can be destructive (too many beds have learned this the hard way). He is an absolute favorite with our kids and mostly runs for them with occasional help from the adults to get him to drop that tug.

Strider lives to be on the docks, jumping 20+ feet from the start It took me a while to learn how to throw for him since he is my one that truly follows the ball. He consistently takes off 5-10 feet early, so if we can get his striding down, we may see 25+ from him yet. We are working on air retrieve, since he loves to get as much air as he can.

Strider LOVES Frisbee. He loves air time, body vaults, and anything you can ask for in Frisbee. He officially got to start playing in competitions at 7 years old with Tyler (9 years old). They have a ton to learn but are going to be an amazing team some day. If only they had started together 7 years earlier.

Strider LOVES to herd the rest of the pack or anything else he can find to herd. His herding drive is amazing. Each herding person who has a chance to see him on stock is amazed that a merle can be so perfect on stock. He has amazing eye, reads stock perfectly, and can move even the hardest stock. He has shown his skills on ducks, sheep, and cattle. His pickup is natural and smooth and could work distances at 8 months old. He can push when needed, but never becomes too aggressive. He attended his first trial and managed his first Q on sheep. Hopefully, this year we will get him finished and moved up to Open.
