These are the adult dogs available for homes. Some of these dogs are ones that were born here and others are ones that may just be passing through. We try to focus on our breeds, but have rescued a huge variety of breeds over the years due to different reasons. We do not always have adults available, but do commonly know of adults available other than the ones we take in. We only take on a couple of adults each year and are very selective about which ones we take. Due to limited time, we can only take on an occasional dog.
Maverick Maverick is a 6 year old neutered male. He is currently 43# and a bit heavy. Up to date on vaccines, flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Maverick is social and friendly with people and loves to give kisses. He does extremely well with older kids, but is very in your face and not gentle with young kids. No homes with younger kids that he can knock over or jump on. He started having signs of resource guarding with special treats around young kids and puppies. He has not offered to bite, but does get tense and tries to eat fast. Does OK with some other dogs but can be nervous with in your face other dogs. He does great with dogs he knows, but barks at unknown dogs passing his yard. He has been good with introductions to my dogs. Likes playing with toys, but will destroy stuffed toys. The owner has not played a lot of fetch with him the last couple of years, but he loved playing when he was younger. He mostly just hangs out during the day and is a couch potato. He likes walks, but is not 100% trustworthy off leash, especially is he sees another dog or animal to chase. He has not been raised with cats or small animals. He has basic commands down well and a great recall in a fenced in property. He is currently on Pro Plan Chicken and Rice food. He does get some seasonal allergies in the fall and will lick his feet some. He had a cyst removed on his tail that was believed to be caused by being on apoquel, which he is now off of. Otherwise he has been very healthy.
